Draft report on file, Gwich'in Social and Cultural Institute, Tsiigehtchic, N.W.T. This report is in two parts: Part one summarizes the cultural history of the Peel River watershed and the heritage resources within it from a Gwich'in perspective. Part two is a database containing 392 place names recorded for the Teetł'it Gwich'in traditional land use area. The report presents detailed oral history information on approximately 100 of the places named in the area of the Peel River between Fort McPherson and the Wind River. Information is drawn from oral history interviews carried out by the GSCI with Teetł'it Gwich'in elders in Fort McPherson in 1996, archival oral history data in the Gwich'in Language Centre, and information from the published literature.
