Tabitha was born on February 6, 1927 at Trail Creekin the Yukon. Her parents were the late Brian and Lucy (Salu) Francis. Her paternal grandparents were the late Chief Julius and Maggie (Vittrekwa) Salu. Her maternal grandparents were the late William and Merika Vittrekwa (Neyando). Most of Tabitha’s childhood was spent living out on the land with her parents and grandparents in the mountains and at Tl’oondih.
